Never in 50 years have Elvis's co-stars gathered like this to celebrate The King. And never will it happen again. Fans of Elvis Presley will experience a one-of-a-kind event at "Night of a Thousand Stars" when more than two dozen celebrities gather this summer on the 30th anniversary of the death of the King of Rock and Roll. Miss Leigh is host for the event, having invited co-stars, friends and directors associated with Elvis and especially his movies to come to the gathering. Many of these luminaries have never met but this array of stars will not be seen again assembled at an event as singular as this.

  • Michael Jackson Finally Emulates Elvis, Howard Hughes
    By Roger Friedman
    (FOXNews.com, June 27, 2007)
Michael Jackson may at last be living out his greatest fantasy: life as Elvis Presley. According to my sources - who are very much on top of the current Jackson situation in Las Vegas - Michael has retreated largely to his bed rather than do any work. But Michael will be getting out of bed soon, because on June 30, his one-year lease on a Las Vegas mansion runs out. And then Jackson is out, too, along with his three kids, nanny and security team.

... Brugnara, unlike many of Jackson's previous and patrons and landlords, is no pussycat. He's wildly outspoken, with no constraint when it comes to putting things the way he sees them. Apparently he's looking forward to moving into the 11-bathroom, 20-room manse he leased to Michael so he can make his move in Sin City. Where that leaves Jackson is unclear. Friends and family are "very worried" that he's drugged most of the time on prescription painkillers. He is more than ever isolated from nearly everyone by his children's nanny, Grace Rwaramba, and his Washington, D.C.-based publicist Raymone Bain. ...

  • This Bird Has Flown: The life of French singer Edith Piaf gets a rich cinematic rendering
    By LANCE GOLDENBERG
    (tampa.creativeloafing.com, June 27, 2007)
There's no American equivalent to France's Edith Piaf, although if pressed you might consider Elvis Presley, Billie Holiday and Iggy Pop all rolled up into one diminutive, iconoclastic package. A certified cultural institution in La Belle France, Piaf was as gifted as she was self-destructive, with a public image and musical repertoire forever fused in ways that make it pointless, if not impossible, trying to separate the singer's life from her art ...
La Vie en Rose 4 stars
Directed by Oliver Dahan. Stars Marion Cotillard, Sylvie Testud, Emmanuelle Seigner, Gerard Depardieu, Jean-Pierre Martins, Clotilde Courau and Jean-Paul Rouve. Opens June 29 at Tampa Theatre.
    Call theater to confirm.

Ex-footballer/actor Vinnie Jones renewed his wedding vows to his wife of 13 years Tanya in an Elvis Presley style ceremony. Vinnie, famous for his scary and aggressive style of acting, expressed his love by hiring a white Cadillac to drive his wife to the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, reports The Sun. The couple, who have been married since June 1994, renewed their vows at the 24-hour drive in chapel in Sin City.

The actor, who has starred in films such as Gone In Sixty Seconds and Snatch, wore a purple suit with a big white buttonhole bloom for his Elvis-style ceremony. An Elvis imitator was also around to sing a few classics for the couple.

We all know Congressman Steve Cohen loves Elvis. To quote the King as we proceed through the 100 hours, 'it's now or never' that we make the changes America needs. . . ."

On July 1st, at 1 p.m., Cohen will help celebrate the 3rd Anniversary of Elvis Radio ‹ launched exclusively on SIRIUS in July 2004 as the world's only "all Elvis all the time" radio station -- with a special broadcast. Tune in to hear Steve's take on the iconšs impact on popular culture, as well as his influence closer to home. • Artist to rebuild Elvis's Graceland in Tramway hall
    By PHIL MILLER
    (The Herald, June 27, 2007)
Elvis has entered the building. An artist is to rebuild Graceland, the Memphis home of Elvis Presley, in the largest hall of the Tramway arts centre in Glasgow, and stage concerts inside it. Built in 1957, Graceland, in Tennessee, was the house where Presley lived for 20 years, and where he also died, in 1977. But despite its world fame and popularity as a tourist attraction, the home, built in the pillared "classical revival" style, is of modest size and can fit neatly inside one of the old tram sheds in Pollokshields.

Alexandre Perigot is to rebuild Graceland to scale, 1:1, in an art piece called Elvis House/Maison d'Elvis as part of his Pipedream exhibition.
